First, let’s answer the following few questions:

What is a blog?

A blog is an online platform, or call it a website where a blogger posts periodic articles to enlighten, educate, entertain or inform his or her audience based on his or her experiences and interests.

What is blogging?

Blogging is what you do when you are writing and posting periodic articles on the platform called blog with the aim to educate, enlighten, inform or entertain your audience.

The interval at which you blog depends on you. It could be daily, fortnightly, weekly or monthly. And the purpose for which you blog still depends on the blogger. Do you want to entertain your audience or educate them? It is a matter of your choice.

Who is a blogger?

A blogger is a fellow who writes an article for other people to read on an online platform called a blog.

But you will have to work and give it all it takes to succeed; there is no magic around that.

  1. The most important requirement is for you to have interest and willingness to say: this is what I want to do

  3. A laptop or Desktop Computer
  4. Internet connection
  5. Access to electricity
  6. A little start up capital

Never let anything scare you away from your financial freedom roadmap. A lot of people want freedom, but they don’t want responsibility. You have to commit something if you want to start earning from blogging.

Imagine living the kind of life you so desire. What amazing joy does it bring to you?

Now, let’s consider the processes involved in setting up and monetizing your blog

Processes to Blogging

Pick a niche

When you have made up your mind to start blogging, the first thing you must settle in your heart is what exactly are you going to be writing about?

Should you write about sport, politics, fashion, dietry, economy, business, or relationship? The list of what to write about is endless. The determinant factor of what you should write about depends entirely on your interest and probably your past experience.

What are you knowledgeable about? What can you conveniently teach other people? I will suggest you pitch your interest around that ideal.

Create a blog

When you have settled the matter of what you want to be writing about, the next thing to think of is to create a working blog where you will be posting your writings.

You need a blog to get your writing across to the people who are interested in what you are writing. Otherwise, it remains on your shelf.

To create a blog is something you are to learn in a very powerful training created by Mr. Joe Okoro, a Nigerian internet marketer.

Get traffic

You have created your blog, that is fine. The question is who is reading what you are creating?

Unless somebody out there is scrolling through your blog page, it is never going to earn you a dime. Remember your interest is to earn a living doing blogging. So, you have to learn how to drive traffic to your blog site.

This is the exact reason why I said earlier that one of the things you need to run a successful blogging career is to learn. Driving traffic is more than merely telling your friends and family on social media to check what you have posted.

You need to learn the art of generating traffic; and there is a University which could help you to learn that skill in the space of time.

Monetize

This is the bottom line. Your objective and the main goal is to get paid for the skills you have put into creating a blog. Of course, there are so many ways you can begin to earn from your blog.

I will share some with you here:

Sell ads spaces

One of the advantages of having massive traffic visiting your blog site is that it gives you the necessary privilege to charge advertisers who want to display their products or services on your blog page.

This could be a great source of generating income as a blogger. When advertisers see that you have massive visits on your sites, they will beg you for a space to place their ads. Mind you, this could be big companies like Coca-cola, Dangote conglomerate, a fast food restaurant and so on.

Affiliate Links

As a blogger, when your blog begins to generate and drive traffic, you have the option of placing affiliate links on your site pages on which when people click, they land in the other site. When they buy the products or perform the action, you get paid. This system can generate you tons of money, because there is no limit to how many affiliate links you are to place on your site.

AdSense

Another advantage of having a massive traffic visit to your site is that it is one of the requirements to be met before you can apply for Google Adsense. When your application for Google Adsense is approved Google will begin to display ads on your site, and that is a gold mine for you.

The more visits you have, the more earning you get.

The Bottom line

With the current and prevailing economic hardship in Nigeria, where graduates are being underpaid, it is evident that you and I need alternative sources of income.
